Various forms of mass communication – in innumerable formats – struggle for public attention in our media society. Students of “Communication in Social and Economic Contexts” (GWK) learn how to plan communication strategies that can hold their own
in face of this competition. GWK is a three-year Bachelor course with a follow-up
two-year Master’s course, which focuses on strategies and conceptual designs for
campaigns in management communications. The subject areas of General
Communication Sciences, Communication Planning and Design, with their subsidiaries and supplementary subjects represent important elements in the process of campaign development. The combination of business management and creative components on the syllabus is unique in Germany. Initially, students study all the subject areas. Subsequently,
all students complete a project in communication. At this stage, independent groups develop campaigns in communication – from a commission to the realization of measures. These campaigns are quite often implemented in reality.
Following successful completion of the Bachelor course, it is possible to continue studying GWK on the Master’s course.
A wide range of professional fields are open to graduates – from advertising, PR and media to work for public and state institutions or in private enterprise.
