In this workshop we want to discover the possibilities that video on stage has to offer and to investigate how the technical possibilities can influence the image of the person on stage. We will develop performances using (live-)video.
The workshop wants to get closer to the interplay between mask and music: We will put on masks and see what happens. We will transform ourselves and watch how the masks are also transformed.
This workshop offers a practical exploration of excerpts from choreographies by Pina Bausch as well as discussions about the background and development of the works of the Wuppertaler Tanztheater.
The workshop will concern itself with the generation of material inside frameworks and rule structures, and the ways in which these allow diverse voices and opinions to co-exist in performance.
Urban public spaces will become the field of research and experimentation: using specific exercises and improvisations, the relationship between space, architecture, urban occurrences and performance will be explored in different urban locations.
Berlins greatest diseuse will instruct the students in how to sing and tell stories about their own desires, dreams and fears. She takes time for each individual and at the end of the course will create and present a collective Chanson evening.
