Information for Exchange Students, International Degree-Seeking UdK Students and Partner Universities

Arrival in Berlin

Update on 10.02.2020

Students who have stayed in (high) risk areas* within the last 10 days before arriving in Berlin must:

  • register before entering the country on einreiseanmeldung.de (available in 11 languages).  The information is then automatically forwarded to the responsible Gesundheitsamt (health authority).
  • go to their own apartment or house or other suitable accommodation immediately after their arrival and remain in quarantine for a period of ten days. This also applies to students who have previously entered the Federal Republic of Germany via another federal state.
  • take a compulsory test. You can get tested for free at BER Airport (former Schönefeld Airport). If you are unable to do so for capacity reasons, you can get a test at various corona screening centers in Berlin.
  • Please note that students  travelling from high-incidence areas and/or areas of variant of concern must show a negative test result or an appropriate medical certificate BEFORE departure. The test must have been carried out at the earliest 48 hours before entry and must comply with the criteria of the Robert Koch Institute*.

Please find more information on current quarantine and registration requirements for travellers on the following website: https://www.berlin.de/corona/en/measures/

*please scroll to the bottom of the page of the RKI to find the information in English.

ATTENTION!

  • It is not allowed to spend the quarantine in a student dormitory, hostel and other accommodation with shared bathroom/kitchen. During the quarantine, any contact with people who do not belong to your household must be strictly avoided.
  • If you are in quarantine, it is strictly forbidden to attend courses and to enter any of the buildings of the UdK Berlin.
  • The students mentioned above can only attend digital courses or take online exams.
  • Even if the test is negative, it is strongly recommended that you repeat the test after 5 to 7 days.
  • If you think you may have an infection, please call the Corona Hotline for advice. It can be reached daily from 8:00 - 20:00 hrs under 9028-2828. Moreover, you must strictly comply with the procedure in case of infection or suspected infection at UdK Berlin.

Please check the current Berlin regulations on the day of your arrival. These can be changed according to the current infection situation.

Incoming exchange students - summer semester 2021

The application process starts on 15th October and ends on 15th November. Further information can be found here:

https://www.udk-berlin.de/en/service/international-office/exchange/student-exchange-programme/studying-in-berlin/application-process/

Applications are accepted under the condition that exchanges are possible and safe. We carefully will observe the development of the Corona pandemic and reserve the right to withdraw the acceptance.

The COVID-19 pandemic remains unpredictable and we are facing many possible challenges for the summer semester in terms of safety, international travel restrictions and academic developments.

Outgoing Exchange Students 2020/21

Update on 8.11.2020

The UdK Berlin does NOT encourage physical mobility to a country with a COVID-19-related travel warning during the summer semester 2020/21! UdK Berlin recommends to refrain from travel to study abroad destinations in so called risk areas.

However, it is at the participants' discretion to travel to regions with a COVID-19 travel warning. We are allowed again to financially support students in these areas under certain conditions. Keep in mind that you do this at your own risk!

The European Commission, the DAAD, and the UdK Berlin urge all students to follow preventive measures by the local authorities.

Please sign in "ELEFAND", the Krisenvorsorgeliste by the Auswärtiges Amt (crisis prevention list): https://elefand.diplo.de/elefandextern/home/login!form.action
