In our presentation, we will delve into a world of waves, and how to find them in the planetary. We will discuss the problem of scale and visibility, and explore in a workshop format different modes of activating, deactivating and knowing waves through multiple artefacts that allow us to transduce, mediate, translate and engage with In our presentation, we will delve into a world of waves, and how to find them in the planetary. Jorge is an architect and postdoctoral researcher currently participating in the ERC-WAVEMATTERS project at the Institute for European Ethnology (HU-Berlin). His research explores heat and governance in cities, and the socio-materiality of waves. For this presentation, he will delve into the planetary through specific objects and technologies activate and deactivate waves and make their (im)materiality visible.

This summer, we are going on a collective search for clues and asking: What on Earth is the planetary? And where can we find it here at the Kunsthochschule? Who do we want to learn from? And what do we want to unlearn together along the way?

Every Monday, we explore a different artistic, scientific or political field related to the climate crisis. Guests from various fields such as care, critique of capitalism, queerness, decolonization or art share their expertise, methods and utopias with us. It‘s not just about discovering and understanding new fields and contexts. We try out common languages and create space for planetary exchange among the study programs. We learn together and engage with the real environment. Depending on the weather, the lecture will take place in the UdK courtyard. There we make connections to the real environment, living beings and structures in the university ecosystem.

After the event, we want to end the evening together in the inner courtyard with a soda.
