EXHIBITION: Navigating Berlin. Perspectives On Cartography | Nov 30, 2019 - Jan 4, 2020
Dear friends of Sound Studies and Sonic Arts,
We are pleased to invite you to a group exhibition Navigating Berlin. Perspectives on Cartography presented by CLB Berlin.
The 3-part exhibition series, curated by Lisa Gordon at CLB Berlin, examines the city through its cartographic representation, focusing on the maps’ historical narratives, aesthetic depictions and the socio-political dimensions they illustrate or even influence. On show will be a never before publicly shown private collection of historical maps and plans of the city Berlin, which reach from the 18th century to the present. In each chapter of this trilogy, the focus lays on a different aspect of the cartographic presentation, so that the view of Berlin changes again and again. In addition, contemporary artists present new works, with which they pick up on individual topics of the exhibition and create a present-day dialogue with the archive.
The series will start with Snapshots & Transitions presenting works by Olaf Kühnemann and the artist collective DISSS by Daisuke Ishida, faculty member at SoundS, featuring works by students Jonathan Bruns, Nico Daleman, Yun-Chu Liang, Oskar J. Mayböck, Enric Myskovskaya, Samuel Perea-Díaz and Francis Sosta.
We are looking forward to see you there!
