#16 A Discussion About Harriet Jacobs

4 November 2019: Composer/performer Anthony R. Green will discuss his recent research related to the life of Harriet Jacobs in the Salon titled "Enslavement, Isolation, Sexual Abuse, and the Brain: a discussion about Harriet Jacobs". The evening will also include a conversation with Dr. Ilya Veer about trauma, the brain, and how Ms. Jacobs could survive such extreme physical and mental duress.

September 2019: Our associate Neslihan Arol contributed to the book Staging Gender – Reflexionen aus Theorie und Praxis der performativen Künste with her thoughts on “Gender in Comedy: Reflections from a Practitioner-Researcher”.


Eastern Neigbours Film Festival 2019

6 - 10 November 2019: The film Araf by our fellow Didem Pekün is screened as part of the Bosnian program at Eastern Neigbours Film Festival 2019 at Fimhuis Den Haag.

Exhibition “Rooze-Mabada”

9 October – 15 November 2019Rooze-Mabada [For a Rainy Day] is a group show at Giardino Segreto in Milan featuring nine Iranian artists, among them our current fellow Yalda Afsah.

September 2019: The Guardian listed the best art of the 21st century and our former fellow Tanja Ostojić is on place 23 with her project “Looking for a Husband with EU Passport” (2000-05).

26 October - 17 November 2019: Our alumna Tanja Ostojić will exhibit the entire exhibition archive of her project "Lexicon of Tanjas Ostojić” (2011-17) and "After Courbet” (2004), each of them for the first time in Germany, in the context of DE-HEIMATIZE IT! at Maxim Gorki Theater.


Pain, Vengeance ? | Brot, Rache? | Bread, Revenge?

28 October – 3 November 2019: Our former fellow Stefan Hayn presents his new film Pain, Vengeance ? | Brot, Rache? | Bread, Revenge? (2019, 76 min), which is based on two texts written by French author Robert Antelme (1917-1990), at DOK Leipzig.

Dorothea-Erxleben Scholarship at HBK Braunschweig

September 2019: Lower Saxony and the Braunschweig University of Art (HBK) awarded three scholarships in the framework of the Dorothea-Erxleben programme to Helene Appel (Painting), Pauline M’Barek (Performance) and former Graduate School fellow Kerstin Ergenzinger (Sound Art).
