On the occasion of the group exhibition “entre límites / zwischen grenzen – berlin 2016” at Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien, a symposium under the title “Perspectives of Sound Art – Mexico and Germany” will take place at the Mexican Embassy on Saturday, November 26th, from 2 to 7 PM. The conference is intended as a contribution towards the deepening of scholarly and artistic dialogue concerning sound art in both countries. In spite of the fact that the scenes in both countries share similar traditions in part, their familiarity with one another has remained rather limited up until now. The residency and exhibition project “entre límites”, initiated two years ago by singuhr – projekte berlin and the Goethe-Institut Mexico, brings together the two artistic scenes for the first time.
The conference will be attended by leading researchers and scholars of the genre from Mexico (Carlos Prieto, Manuel Rocha) and Germany (Helga de la Motte-Haber, Volker Straebel). Their presentations will be complemented by statements from the artists involved in the “entre límites” project.

Anlässlich der Gruppenausstellung „entre límites / zwischen grenzen – berlin 2016“ im Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien findet am Samstag, den 26. November von 14 – 19 Uhr in der Mexikanischen Botschaft in Berlin das Symposium „Perspektiven der Klangkunst – Mexiko und Deutschland“ statt. Die Konferenz versteht sich als Beitrag zur Vertiefung des wissenschaftlichen und künstlerischen Dialogs über Klangkunst in beiden Ländern. Denn trotz zum Teil ähnlicher Traditionslinien, ist die Kenntnis der jeweils anderen Szene in beiden Ländern eher limitiert. Das vor zwei Jahren von singuhr – projekte berlin und dem Goethe-Institut Mexiko iniitierte Residenz- und Ausstellungsprojekt „entre límites“ führt erstmals beide künstlerische Szenen zusammen.
Zur Konferenz sind führende Forscher und Wissenschaftler des Genres aus Mexiko (Carlos Prieto, Manuel Rocha) und Deutschland (Helga de la Motte-Haber, Volker Straebel) eingeladen. Ihre Vorträge werden ergänzt durch Statements der am Projekt „entre límites“ beteiligten Künstler.
