On October 1, 2020, Daisuke Ishida was awarded the Visiting Professorship for Sound Art at SoundS
Dear friends of SoundS
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Daisuke Ishida as the new visiting professor for sound art at the Master program Sound Studies and Sonic Arts on October 1, 2020. He succeeds Professor Hans Peter Kuhn, who has taught in this capacity for the past eight years and will continue to be associated with the program as a lecturer.
The Berlin-based artist Daisuke Ishida has been a lecturer at Sound Studies and Sonic Arts since 2012. He works with contemporary media, technology and electronics in the field of sound, space and perception at the interface of media and sound art. He has exhibited internationally and received several renowned scholarships and awards. His focus is on conceptual, multimedia and interdisciplinary artistic work, especially on the consequences of artistic practice and theory. In addition to installations, his work includes algorithmic compositions/live concerts in stereo, multi-channel, surround, non-standard multi-channel arrangements and wave field synthesis. His complete oeuvre has not only led to various publications, but also to curatorial work and productive collaborations as well as to recognition by the Prix Ars Electronica, Edith Russ Haus für Medienkunst, Japan Media Arts Festival, Berlin Senate, Saxon Minister of State and the Japan Foundation, among others.
Please join Sabine Sanio and me in warmly welcoming Daisuke Ishida to this new appointment, and in wishing him continued success as he transitions into this exciting new phase of his career at the UdK.
With all the best from my home office, yours
Volker Straebel
