Students and graduates of Prof. Thomas Zipp's class and Thomas Zipp will be showing works in the foyer of the concert hall.
"The Unsaid Still Resonates"
Opening: 24.05.2025, 6 pm
Duration: 24.05.-06.06.2025
Closing concert and finissage: 06.06.2025, 7.30 pm
In the foyer of the concert hall, visitors to this year's crescendo festival will be welcomed by the exhibition "The Unsaid Still Resonates".
Students and alumni of Prof. Thomas Zipp's class make the unsaid the subject and thus raise questions: How do we deal with what smoulders beneath the surface? With what we cannot put into words or what is not entrusted to us by others?
The works deal with vulnerability, memories and social fractures as well as the potential of art to open up spaces for expression, exchange and transformation.
"The Unsaid Still Resonates" is an invitation to listen more closely - especially between the sounds - and thus sets an example against silencing.
This is not a matter of course in art. During National Socialism, anti-Semitism and exclusion were tacitly supported at the predecessor institution of the UdK Berlin. The reappraisal of this history remains incomplete to this day. And even today, discrimination, division and authoritarian tendencies endanger our coexistence. With their exhibition, the participating artists are therefore taking a stand against anti-Semitism, exclusion and discrimination and for a climate of trust that does not conceal injuries but encourages empathetic encounters.
Participating artists:
Tania Elstermeyer
Shiri Faingold
Marina Kniazeva
Charlotte Hiltmann
Robert “Robby” Timothy Kübler
Gerald Meilicke
Naima Okoemu
Simon Ostaschenko
Kurt von Bley
Thomas Zipp
The exhibition can be visited during all concerts of the UdK Berlin concert hall in the lower foyer.
Support us!
The Berlin Senate has imposed enormous savings targets on public universities. You know that: An excellent musical education consists not only of the many hours of solitary practising and lessons by professors, but also, to a large extent, of performing in front of an audience. This inherent part of the training is also the opportunity for you to attend almost always free concerts at a high level. We don't want to have to cut back on this. By attending our events, you can also show those responsible in politics that music and art are meaningful for every society. And if you can: support us with small or large donations. The donations are used for teaching, tuning, transport, advertising material, for our music festival crescendo - wherever no funds can be spent at the moment. This directly benefits our students and also you as the audience, as this is the only way we can maintain events of this calibre and variety.
Thank you very much!
