Ω. Unit of electrical resistance. Resistance that exists between two points of an electrical conductor, to the status quo, to prevailing approaches.

The multimedia exhibition by the New Media class at Berlin University of the Arts showcases positions by current and former students questioning whether technological development should be driven forward under all circumstances.

What are technological solutions and what do they mean for our contemporary societies? Which actors develop, influence, and market them? Is there an alternative to proprietary systems and closed loops of large corporation?

Developments in recent decades, especially in the tech industry, have led to strong dependencies on individual systems that determine how we interact in the digital space. These dependencies shape and guide debates in which as large a part of society as possible must participate in order to prevent a shift in power toward individual actors and away from entire groups.

The exhibition unfolds as a collection of diverse perspectives that address these questions by highlighting them, answering them, leaving them unanswered, and taking a stance.

Ω. Clarification of the end, the opposite of the beginning.

The New Media class at Berlin University of the Arts engages in various research, development, and collaboration activities in regards of emerging trends in the fields of art and design with digital thinking at the core.

The exhibition takes place from 20. - 21.02.2026 in the Rossmann Culterim Space next to Kaufland at Brunnenstraße 107 located in Gesundbrunnen.
