Prof. Dr. Kathrin Busch

Kathrin Busch studied Philosophy, Art History and Literary Studies at the University of Hamburg and was awarded a PhD at the Ruhr-University of Bochum for her thesis on Jacques Derrida. Afterwards, she received an assistant professorship for Cultural Theory at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg, where she also worked on artistic and scientific projects in the university's art space. In 2009, she accepted a professorship for Cultural Theory / Cultural Studies at the Merz Academy in Stuttgart. Since 2010, she is a professor of Philosophy / Design Theory at the Faculty of Design at the UdK and part of the management team of the DFG research training group "The Knowledge of the Arts". Since 2016, she is a member of the executive committee of the new society for fine arts, Berlin (nGbK). In addition to contemporary French Philosophy, Aesthetics and Image Theory, her main research interests are studies on passivity and artistic knowledge.
