Research Ecologies 2026
Research rarely proceeds in a straight line. That is why this year we would like to pay special tribute to detours and unresolved issues.
Artistic and design research is conducted at the Berlin University of the Arts in various formats and contexts. The cross-faculty colloquium is an interdisciplinary forum in which artistic, design and artistic-scientific research projects from the mid-level faculty have been presented and discussed since 2022. The colloquium also aims to serve as a networking platform within the university and to support the institutional anchoring of the third cycle at the Berlin University of the Arts.

We are looking for artistically and scientifically open approaches in doctoral theses and projects that are currently in the making – perhaps thinking in many directions, still undecided or in productive chaos.
The full day programme will focus on the diversity of methods and practices of artistic and scientific research. Practice-based workshops and case studies will foster inter-disciplinary exchange.
In the second colloquium, "Home is a verb: challenging perspectives on belonging", two projects are presented that challenge the idea of home.
The post-disciplinary colloquium at UdK Berlin and TU Berlin begins. 3 research projects will discuss the interplay between historical power relations, technological interventions in natural systems and changing ecological conditions.
The BAS and the Hybrid Plattform are initiating the second joint artistic-scientific colloquium of the UdK and the TU in WiSe 2024. The question ‘How do we want to live in the future’ will be discussed.
