Information on funding for students at Berlin University of the Arts
The Ottilie Selbach Redslob Foundation provides funding for particularly talented and financially disadvantaged students at Berlin University of the Arts who are majoring in
piano, string instruments and singing.
There is currently no application process. As soon as applications are possible again, students in these subjects will be notified and the website will be updated.
Type and purpose of funding
Funding is usually provided in the form of a one-off financial grant.
It is intended to support studies and the implementation of specific artistic projects, e.g.:
- Preparation for and participation in competitions
- Study abroad or study visits, master classes
- Special artistic or study-related projects
Requirements
The requirements for funding are:
Enrolment at the Berlin University of the Arts during the funding period,
Study of piano, singing, viola, violin, cello or double bass as a major subject
Above-average qualifications
Proven financial need.
Students who have already received funding cannot apply a second time.
Application documents
Applications can be submitted and must contain the following documents:
- a letter of application explaining the reasons for the application and describing the planned study or funding purpose,
- an artistic biography
- A tabular curriculum vitae
- Transcripts of academic records, in particular
- at least two letters of recommendation (at least one of which must be from someone other than your main subject teacher),
- if applicable, reviews, certificates, competition results, audio or video recordings.
Selection process
The Foundation Board will decide whether to invite applicants to audition based on the application documents submitted.
- The audition will generally last around 30 minutes per applicant.
- The programme should include works from at least two different stylistic periods.
- Cyclical works must be prepared in their entirety; the selection of the movements to be performed is made by the commission.
