NEW TEAM RECORDER AT THE UDK BERLIN
The recorder programme at UdK Berlin
Susanna Borsch and Felix Gutschi will lead the recorder class at the Universität der Künste Berlin (UdK) starting in the winter semester 2026/27.
Susanna Borsch taught at the Hochschule für Musik Trossingen for twelve years and shaped the training of numerous students in the recorder department. Her focus in teaching at UdK lies in the field of early music. In both individual lessons and intensive ensemble work, students engage with a wide range of aspects of recorder practice—such as instrument types, repertoire selection, intonation, tuning, notation, ornamentation, and other stylistic features of Renaissance and Baroque music. More about Susanna Borsch
Felix Gutschi specialises in the development of contemporary repertoire and interdisciplinary projects. As a pedagogue, he draws on his experience both in instrumental recorder teaching and in music theory, connecting the two disciplines. As a representative of a young, dynamic generation of recorder players, he encourages students to look beyond the obvious, to develop technically assured and musically precise project ideas, and to realise them with confidence. More about Felilx Gutschi
We place particular importance on teaching at eye level—a form of instruction that responds sensitively to the individual needs of students, creates a focused and trusting working atmosphere, and at the same time stimulates efficient, clearly structured learning processes. Our aim is to accompany and support students on their way to becoming independent, creative, reflective, curious, and artistically distinctive musicians. We want to offer a multifaceted programme that goes far beyond weekly individual lessons: regular performance evenings, workshops with changing thematic focuses, in-depth engagement with current research by other recorder players, and “open” lessons that invite listening, exchange, and discussion.
