Background
As part of an open call, students and teaching staff of the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK Berlin) were invited to engage artistically with the relationship between the university and the city of Berlin. The starting point could be the banner and slogan of the current “Berlin” image campaign, developed by Berlin Partner for city marketing (wir.berlin: BERLIN.).
The open call invited participants to explore the urban fabric as a space of shared negotiation, artistic practice and academic research, as well as aesthetic resonance, and to continually re-examine it from the perspective of UdK Berlin. The aim was an open process that prioritises resonance over representation. In this sense, UdK Berlin understands itself as a place of artistic and academic thinking that does not merely depict Berlin, but contributes impulses for new perspectives and forms of collaboration within society.
The support of our long-standing cooperation partner Berlin Partner made it possible to realise this project and to strengthen and make visible the exchange between the university, the urban community and artistic practice.
