Corporate Design Manual
The UdK Berlin Corporate Design Manual provides tips, information, standards and application examples relating to the visual appearance of the UdK Berlin.
Employees and lecturers of the UdK Berlin can also download templates and work tools, such as the UdK Berlin letterhead, business card templates, and PowerPoint presentations, from the UdK Berlin Media Hub. To access them, please log in with your Intra or O.A.Se account here: https://mediahub.ai/public/sso
The use of the logo requires written approval (email is sufficient) from the Strategic Marketing Unit. Before publication, the relevant communication material must be submitted to the unit for review to ensure compliance with the corporate design guidelines of the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK Berlin). Final authorisation for use will only be granted once this review has been completed.
Approval may be refused without the need to state reasons. Approval is contingent upon the logo being used in connection with the activities of the Berlin University of the Arts and where such use is not expected to damage the reputation of UdK Berlin. UdK Berlin reserves the right to revoke previously granted permission to use the logo at any time and without providing reasons.
Design Guidelines
Use original files: Only the officially provided logo files may be used, in their original form and in accordance with the UdK Berlin corporate design.
No modifications: The logo may not be distorted, altered, or combined with other graphic elements.
Clear space: A sufficient clear space must be maintained around the logo to ensure its visibility and clarity.
Technical Requirements
Size and resolution: The logo must be displayed at an appropriate size and resolution to ensure legibility and recognisability.
No colour changes permitted: Alterations to colours, proportions, or lettering are not allowed.
File Formats
For print applications (e.g. posters, brochures, flyers):
PDF (Portable Document Format) – High-quality print file, vector-based, particularly suitable for professional layouts.
JPG (JPEG, high resolution) – For simple print applications, but not scalable without loss of quality.
For web applications (websites, social media, emails, digital presentations):
PNG (Portable Network Graphics) – Transparent background, ideal for the web, social media, and digital presentations.
JPG (JPEG, web-optimised) – Suitable for web use where transparency is not required.
Use on Posters, Flyers and in Presentations
Students may use the UdK Berlin logo for academic purposes as part of their studies or examination processes, provided this is coordinated with the respective lecturer and approved by the Strategic Marketing Unit. This includes, in particular, the use of the logo on posters, flyers and presentations created within the context of their studies. Approval by the Strategic Marketing Unit does not extend to publications that can be considered personal (e.g. especially publications released through commercial publishers).
Use on Final Theses
The logo may only be used on the cover page of final theses. The following note must be included:
“Submitted to the Berlin University of the Arts”.
Use of the logo on the actual cover (binding) of the thesis is not permitted.
