equalACT: Call for Participation

Call for Participation

Many of us have been committed for years to gender equality, diversity, and discrimination-sensitive teaching – often working in isolation within our own disciplines, seminar rooms, and initiatives. At the same time, collaborative formats such as Prof*me or #wessenfreiheit show how much energy and impact can emerge when we bring together existing expertise, experiences, and resources.

equalACT therefore aims to initiate artistic research projects, connect and make visible the actors involved, and create space for collaboration. Especially in times of budget cuts and growing pressure on gender equality and gender studies, the project offers a platform for exchange, cooperation, and new alliances.

Two Ways to Participate

SESSIONS → INPUT & EXCHANGE

equalACT | Sessions – interdisciplinary and open
The equalACT | Sessions are curated formats for exchange and workshops addressing key questions around gender, diversity, and anti-discrimination in artistic practice. They are open to women and TIN* persons from all universities.

The sessions provide impulses on topics such as body & representation, queer futures, consent, care work, AI and gender in artistic research contexts. They enable exchange across disciplines and offer methodological insights.

LABS → TEACHING & RESEARCH

equalACT | Labs – (Co-)Teaching: artistic research teaching formats
The equalACT | Labs are practice-oriented laboratories in which women and TIN* persons from HfS and UdK (academic staff, lecturers, professors) can realise their ideas together with their students in interdisciplinary settings. Funding is available for these projects.

By integrating the labs into existing teaching formats, no additional workload is created; instead, they foster a targeted opening and networking of teaching across institutions.

KICK-OFF Event – 7 May 2026 / HfS Ernst Busch

At the kick-off event we will introduce equalACT, its formats (Labs & Sessions), and the available funding opportunities. Participants will introduce themselves with their fields and interests and exchange initial project ideas.

Jointly developed project outlines for a Lab can be submitted until 22 May (submission format to follow). The equalACT project board will inform participants about the selection by the end of June.

More information on dates and registration is available on the website.
