Introductory events for new students

Brochure "Essentials for the start of studies"

Every year, the Student Advisory Service compiles up-to-date information (not only) for first-year students in a brochure. You can find a digital version of this brochure  here.

Introductory events

At the beginning of the semester, the faculties offer introductory events in the individual degree programmes, sometimes even introductory days. Lecturers as well as students from higher semesters inform you here about everything you need to know for a successful start to your studies, and you have the opportunity to get to know each other better. The new students are invited by e-mail.

In addition, there are introductory days at the University Library.

Fakultät Bildende Kunst

  • At the start of the semester, the Faculty of Fine Arts offers special introductory and informational sessions for newly enrolled teacher education students.

    At the two information sessions on October 1, the student academic advising service ("Infocafé") will provide a detailed overview of the Teacher Education programs for Secondary Schools/High Schools and Elementary Schools, explain the course of study, and be available to answer questions.

    For the Q-Master programme in Fine Arts Teacher Education (ISS/GYM), the student academic advising service ("Infocafé") will offer an online information session (via Webex) for new students.
    The date and time will be announced shortly; you will receive the link via email.

    During the orientation session on October 6, the institute, the professors, and the staff will introduce themselves.

  • On Friday, October 2, 2026, the Student Academic Advising Office (Infocafé) will host an information session for newly enrolled students in the Fine Arts programme.

College of Architecture, Media and Design

  • On Monday, October 12, 2026 at 9:00 a.m., the introductory event of the Institute for newly enrolled architecture students will take place.
    Where?  Hardenbergstraße 33, Room 310

    Afterwards the "Projektbörse" will take place from 10:00 am, Romm 158
