Hybrid Talks #48 - New Economic Systems – Veranstaltungsreihe
Since at least the 10th century in Europe and even earlier in China, Fiat money and the concept of a central government issued currency in the form of printed banknotes has established itself as the most common medium of exchange throughout the world today.
But in 2009 with the anonymous invention of Bitcoin and the exploitation of blockchain technologies, we have seen a rapid increase in decentralised monetary systems that are purely digital. Such systems have also allowed for the exchange and creation of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in the art world. Our upcoming Hybrid Talk "New Economic Systems" will explore both the technological, economic and artist implications that these new digital monetary systems have for our future.
