The exhibition understands memory as an active process that is never neutral. It is shaped by narratives, bodies, and spaces, and is constantly being retold. For a long time, dominant perspectives have determined how the past is remembered and written about, thereby feeding our conceptions of the present and the future. With “I don’t know if this story is true”, the artist collective Addons aims to open up space for uncertainty, doubt, and contradictions. The different works feed into and supplement one another, weaving together multidirectional narratives about migration, flight, war, property, and family genealogies.
