Masters for Masters: Georges Barthel – crescendo
Master class with Prof. Georges Barthel, transverse flute
For the past year, Prof. Georges Barthel, an outstanding musician and expert in early music, has been teaching transverse flute at the Berlin University of the Arts. In his master class, the university's (transverse) flute students work on the specifics of sound production, intonation and timbre of this instrument using specific pieces. Experience how Georges Barthel instructs and corrects the students – precisely, sensitively and always with a commitment to historical context. Listening itself becomes a lesson in hearing: observing, comparing, reflecting and experiencing the subtle processes of musical interpretation at close quarters. And the master himself will certainly take up the instrument.

The Berlin Senate has imposed enormous savings targets on public universities.
