crescendo 2023: Mensch, Maschine! Musik!
Are humans and machines opposites? How sensual are machines, can they possibly hear and create aesthetically sophisticated music? Is the machine only a means to an end for humans or already superior to them?
crescendo2023 approaches these questions from a variety of perspectives with a program of the greatest musical diversity and exciting personalities: Top-class orchestral concerts, chamber music formations with professors, students and guests, as well as interdisciplinary concert formats weave their way through the diverse program. The music, its interpreters and the concepts are as diverse as they are interesting, offering musical entertainment of the highest standard over the course of two weeks. One focus will be on the works of György Ligeti, Sergei Rachmaninoff and Max Reger, who will be especially honored this year on the occasion of their birthday anniversaries. Clear the stage for "Mensch, Maschine! Musik!"
Students, faculty and world-renowned international guests will perform. With a few exceptions, all concerts will take place in the concert hall of the Berlin University of the Arts and with free admission on a donation basis. Since 2017, the festival has been under the artistic direction of Prof. Markus Groh and Prof. Konstantin Heidrich.
