Tekla Aslanishvili & Adem Ferizaj – Veranstaltungsreihe
LOOPS is the event series of New Practice in Art and Technology in cooperation with the Berlin University Alliance, exploring current questions facing our society in a unique discursive format. Afterwards, the Bar provides a space for exchange between guests, researchers, students and the public. The accompanying LOOPS SESSIONS extend the series with workshops, performances and experimental formats.
Tekla Aslanishvili (Artist, Film Maker & Essayist) and Adem Ferizaj (Researcher at SOAS London) explore the power dynamics and societal hierarchies within regions at the borderlands between concepts of Europe and Asia on the Eurasian plate (South Caucasus, Caspian regions, and the Balkans) while considering the influence of history, contemporary knowledge production practices and statecraft, shedding light on power dynamics and their historical and con-temporary implications.
Tekla Aslanishvili's work delves into global energy geographies and the evolution of power production and transit infrastructures, exploring the layers of myths, historical narratives, and contemporary knowledge that shape contemporary energy politics.
Adem Ferizaj's work centers around postcoloniality and the roles of Muslim-majority populations from the Balkans in global hierarchies of whiteness. This includes an epistemological study of their position and representation within the broader societal and political context.
