Cristina Gómez Godoy

Spanish oboist Cristina Gómez Godoy combines technical brilliance with musical expressiveness, stunning virtuosity with artistic sensitivity. She regularly impresses audiences at major festivals and concert halls worldwide with her profound musicality and colour-rich sound. When she was 21-years old she started as solo English Horn at the Staatskapelle Berlin, since 2013 she is principal solo oboist of the orchestra.

Despite her young age she has already appeared as soloist with major orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra in the Herkulessaal, with the Orchestra Sinfonica do Estado de Sao Paulo in the Sala Sao Paulo, with the Filarmónica de Málaga in Spain, with the Polish Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, and with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, conducted by Daniel Barenboim.

As a valued guest she has played as principal oboe in several top class orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, Filarmonica della Scala di Milano, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, London Symphony Orchestra, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra among others, and played under renown conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Riccardo Muti, Zubin Mehta, Alan Gilbert, Daniel Harding, Andris Nelson, Gustavo Dudamel. Daniel Barenboim has also invited her at an early stage to play in his West-Eastern Divan Orchestra. 2008/09 she gained experience in orchestral playing as a solo oboist with the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla.

Being an avid chamber musician Cristina Gomez Godoy is widely sought after by colleagues for her versatility and spirit of partnership. She has collaborated with numerous esteemed artists including Daniel Barenboim (performances at the Lucerne Festival, the Salzburg Mozarteum, the Musikverein in Vienna, and the Philharmonie Berlin), Guy Braunstein, Claire Huangci, and Kian Soltani.

She has received numerous awards in national and international competitions such as the ARD Competition in Munich including the BR-Klassik Prize and the Internationaler Instrumentalwettbewerb Markneukirchen. Cristina Gómez Godoy gives international master classes, such as in Spain (Congreso de la Asociación de Oboístas y Fagotistas de España), Brazil (Festival Internacional de Inverno de Campos do Jordao), the UK (Royal Academy of Music London), Germany (Universität der Künste Berlin), and Taiwan. In October 2015 she has become adjunct faculty at the Universität der Künste Berlin.
Born in 1990 in Linares (Spain) she studied at the Academia de Estudios Orquestales the Barenboim-Said Foundation in Seville and later at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Rostock with Professor Gregor Witt. Cristina Gomez Godoy is based in Berlin and plays an oboe by Ludwig Frank, Brilliant model.
