Alejandra Nieves Camacho

Since October 2023, Alejandra Nieves Camacho is the Diversity and Anti-Discrimination Officer at the Berlin University of the Arts, with a special focus on anti-racism.

After studying International Relations at the University of Guadalajara (Mexico), she moved to Berlin in 2016, where she supported international students with and without refugee experience as part of the Welcome@FU-Berlin program and the International Summer and Winter University (FUBiS). She then completed a Master's degree in International Relations at Humboldt University, Freie Universität Berlin, and the University of Potsdam, specializing in migration, gender, and intersectionality.

During her studies in 2020 and 2021, she worked at the Migration Department of the German Center for Integration and Migration Research (DeZIM) and was part of the research team " Bedrohungzenario" at ASH Berlin and Akkon Hochschule (2019-2020), which investigated anti-Muslim racism from the perspective of politics, media, and Muslim communities.

Alejandra Nieves Camacho is an active member of various feminist and anti-racist initiatives in Germany and has several publications in this field. In 2022 and 2023 she worked in the MUT 3.0 project of the Umbrella Organization of Migrant Women's Organizations (DaMigra) to promote the social, political and economic participation of refugee women in Germany.
