Alexander Kirchner

Alexander Kirchner has been a project manager in the Interfaculty Events department at Berlin University of the Arts since March 2024. Together with the department team, he designs, organises and supports events that involve all faculties and departments at Berlin University of the Arts. These include the Berlin University of the Arts Art Award, the Rundgang, the welcome event for first-year students, receptions and special events.

He studied theatre studies at the University of Leipzig, the Free University of Berlin and the University of Ghent (Belgium). Since 2010, he has worked in various positions in the independent theatre scene with artists such as Florentina Holzinger, Rimini Protokoll, Hans-Werner Kroesinger and others for the Maxim Gorki Theater, the Berliner Festspiele and Hellerau Dresden. From 2015 to 2023, he was part of the dramaturgy team at Sophiensaele Berlin, where he designed and curated the ongoing programme and thematic festivals. He is co-editor of the anniversary publication Openings. Sophiensaele 2011–2021, published by Alexander Verlag. Alexander Kirchner also works as a freelance dramaturg and has been a scout for the Impulse Festival for Performance, Theatre & Dance since 2024.
