Nils Kreter

Nils Kreter studied visual communication with a focus on multimedia at the École nationale supérieure des arts appliqués et des métiers de l'art (ENSAAMA) in Paris until 2005, while also working as a freelance web designer for various advertising agencies. In 2006, he moved to Germany where he pursued his studies in Experimental Media Design at the Berlin University of the Arts. In 2011, after switching the major, he graduated in Industrial Design at the class for Interactive Systems with Prof. Burkhard Schmitz.

Until 2016, he worked for various agencies as a motion and interaction designer in the field of museum design, partly on a permanent basis and partly freelance. He helped supporting international clients such as DHL, the German Football Association, Biotronik, Gazprom, BYD, Denza or the Hanergy Holding Group Beijing on both a conceptual and media technology level.

Nils Kreter has also held various teaching positions since 2013. From 2013 to 2017 he was a guest lecturer at the Chinese Academy of Art in Hangzhou, from 2017 to 2020 he was a visiting professor at Shanghai Jian Qiao University and since 2016 he is also a permanent member of the Art and Design Department at Hunan City University in Yiyang.

In February 2023, he took up the position of artistic workshop teacher at the Berlin University of the Arts, where he continues to pursue the approach of combining technology with a conventional and analog way of thinking the world and make digital processes tangible.
