KRÄNZEN FÜR DEN UR-FORST

KRÄNZEN FÜR DEN UR-FORST

The Sofiensaele Festsaal will be reforested for the project Ur-Forst and a German Oak will be planted in the middle of the room, to celebrate the Gala for the tree of the year in 1989 once more in February 2014. To start preparations, Hendrik Quast und Maika Knoblich are inviting to the first meeting of the decorating team Ur-Forst. They want to collect ideas for the event’s decorations as well as to start arranging an oak greenery garland in the court yard. The corded leaves will be mounted at the façade as a test at the end of the day and will after that be frozen till the premiere in February. Drink and musical delight will be provided. Cake donations are more than welcome! We are looking forward to creative minds, who love to decorate and want to create lots.

MAIKA KNOBLICH and HENDRIK QUAST both studied at the Institute for Applied Theater Studies in Gießen, Maika Knoblich has also acquired a Master’s at DasArts in Amsterdam. Natural materials, which are being planted into the theater’s stage area, questioning the theatricalization of natural processes, are the center of her artistic practice. Expertise, derived from the process-focused working method and the close exchange with experts on location, is being tested on stage by amateurs of the field who are becoming some-what experts through speech and acts on stage. The ‘strategy of the countryside’ are picking up shapes of local communities which come together through doing something together. These are being translated into the theatrical context and led by the utopian idea of common activity. Her new project Der Ur-Forst will be celebrating its premiere in February 2014 at Sophiensaele, Berlin. They will be planting a German Oak into the stage space ‘Festsaal’.
