#7 Archipelago Archives Exhibit 4: Cultures of Knowing/Knowing of Culture – Kiran Kumar

Archipelago Archives Exhibit #4: Cultures of Knowing/Knowing of Cultures

with fellow Kiran Kumar, Kiwi Menrath, Daniela Hahn

In the form of an installation and conversation, this exhibit seeks to navigate and map movements between art and anthropology. By drawing on notes, images and texts at once as (multi)media of both artistic practice and ethnographic fieldwork, the exhibit traces the converging and diverging trajectories of art and anthropology as twin cultures of knowing.
This exhibit is part of the long-term artistic research project “Archipelago Archives”, an emancipatory gesture to (re)invent the dances of an imaginary archipelago situated in the Indian Ocean, somewhere between India and Indonesia.

The series of events is co-funded by the Einstein Foundation Berlin and is a cooperation between the Haus der Kulturen der Welt and the Graduate School at the Berlin Centre for Advanced Studies in Arts and Sciences (BAS) of UdK Berlin.
