Knowledge in Exhibitions

Description

The working group “Knowledge in Exhibitions” examines the format of the exhibition, especially for exhibitions of contemporary art, as a producer of knowledge. How do exhibitions produce, transform, or disseminate a specific “knowledge in the arts”? How can curating be understood as a practice of knowledge situated between art and theory, and how do exhibition spaces generate theoretical impulses? How do artists analyze the format of the exhibition? The working group examines the history of topical exhibitions, exhibitions curated by philosophers or theoreticians, theories of display, and the question of how the discursivity of the exhibition format enables a different from knowledge. In addition to a reading group and workshops, regular group exhibition visits will be organized.
