Since 2024 Timo Freye works as a research assistant in the Department 
of Sociology of Communication with Prof. Dr. Maren Hartmann.

He studied Pedagogy and Cultural Studies, focusing different forms of 
and perspectives on structures of inequality and oppression. He 
completed his Master's degree with an ethnographic study on the topic 
“DisAbility and (dis)abilities of work in the german ‘Werkstatt für 
Menschen mit Behinderung’”.

In addition to his work at the Institute for Theory and Practice of 
Communication, Timo Freye works in a Berlin think tank at the interface 
of knowledge communication, politics and digitality.
