Lehrauftrag "Laute"
The Institute for Artistic Training in Early Music and Historic Performance Practice at Berlin University of the Arts is looking for an adjunct professor for the subject of lute/ historical plucked instruments from October 2025.
The teaching position is initially based on demand, with a maximum of 8.5 hours per week, and includes both individual and ensemble lessons.
We are looking for an excellent artistic personality with pedagogical skills and enthusiasm for teaching historical performance practice.
Successful applicants will teach the following instruments as a major subject for Bachelor and Master students: Renaissance and Baroque lute, theorbo, Baroque guitar as well as basso continuo and chamber music. In addition, they will maintain our good relations with the modern guitar department by offering lute as a minor subject.
An international concert activity with experience in both chamber music and orchestral playing is required. In addition, cooperation with Institute and University faculty form an integral part of the position.
The auditions will include a brief musical presentation by the applicant (approx. 20 minutes), teaching of students and a short interview by the jury.
During the hearing at least two different styles with two different instruments should be presented. A keyboard instrument in 415 Hz or 440 Hz can be provided if needed.
We would like to point out that travel and accommodation costs incurred by the audition or as part of the teaching position cannot be covered by the University.
Please send your application documents, i.e. a short cover letter and curriculum vitae, by 28.05.2025 to
