About
Tradwives, Looksmaxxing, AI Slop, Manosphere: Our feeds are full of trends that are either overwhelming or infuriating. RIDIKKULUS is named after the spell from Harry Potter used to defeat a Boggart, the embodiment of one’s greatest fear, by laughing at it and transforming it. That is exactly what we aim to do in this seminar: confront our own fears of distressing online phenomena with humor and absurdity. After group discussions on theoretical and artistic approaches, everyone can develop their own object, inspired by the idea of a closet that harbors fear, and make it their own, learning to deal with it creatively. You’re free to interpret the theme however you like, whether you build a small box, a giant closet, a clown act, a game, or a cyberdeck. In our techno-fascist world, we see the cyberdeck, a DIY mini-computer, as one of many ways of empowerment through technical understanding, playfulness, participation, and decentralization. The goal is to create a collaboratively documented “toolbox” - a small exhibition for anyone who wants to tackle serious topics in a way that’s both playful and earnest.
