Clemens Schöll’s work is dedicated to the effects of technologies, especially automation, on our highly mediated society. He traces systemic and structural connections in order to make them tangible and to affect them. In the sense of a hack, the possibility of transformative visualization and appropriation arises from a profound understanding of reality.

Inspired by everyday experiences, Schöll tries to get to the heart of the systems, research the cultural and technical-historical origins and understand how they currently function.
He develops spatial settings on the basis of highly complex networks from numerous connections. The focus is on the social effects and inherent dynamics of media and platforms, examined on the basis of their media or technical artifacts.

The often inaccessible and abstract topics have everyday effects and significance for all of us. In order to make them tangible, Clemens Schöll combines forms of expression that allow access on different levels of experience. The media formats vary greatly, as he chooses them in relation to the respective content. The often collage-like installations or narrative-performative settings are characterized by imitations, humor, media self-reference and technical details. Viewers are directly addressed or involved as directly as possible in order to create an immediate relationship to the topics being discussed.
