Call for applications for the HAR Artist Residency

(Application period: 01.09.2025 - 20.09.2025)

The Haubrok Collection represents conceptual art from the 1960s onwards. The collection also includes ephemera. The collaborative project with the Faculty of Fine Arts at the UdK Berlin aims to position itself within the tradition of conceptual art or to engage with this tradition as exemplified by the Haubrok Collection. The HAR Artist Residency is linked to a final presentation as part of Berlin Art Week in September 2026. The presentation format is not tied to any particular medium. It can range from a traditional presentation—e.g., an exhibition, a text, a discussion, a concert, a performance, a catalogue—to a new form. The result does not have to be "materialized."

1. Eligibility

Funding is available to graduates of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Berlin University of the Arts, from the Fine Arts, Fine Arts Teacher Training, and Art in Context programs, whose last degree was completed no more than two years ago by the start of the HAR Artist Residency on December 1, 2025, or to MA students in their graduate year or students in their master's year.

2. Scope of funding

The HAR Artist Residency will last ten months. The funding period is expected to begin on December 1, 2025, and end on September 30, 2026. Funding:

(1) A studio space including a kitchenette and bathroom (59 sqm in total, including 49 sqm indoor space and a 10 sqm roof terrace) on the FAHRBEREITSCHAFT premises in Berlin-Lichtenberg, which will be provided to the fellow free of charge. Utilities (electricity and water) will be covered by the project sponsor (haubrok foundation).

(2) There is also a one-time financial grant of €5,000 gross. This will be paid by the project sponsor to the fellow in two installments: the first installment at the beginning of the HAR Artist Residency and the second installment immediately before completion. No accounting is required. No further costs can be claimed.

3. Application and selection procedures

A scholarship can only be awarded upon application in accordance with the call for applications and the application period, provided the application is submitted with complete documentation and by the specified deadline. Incomplete applications or applications that are not submitted correctly or on time cannot be considered. Current information can be found on the websites of the Udk Berlin/Fine Arts and the haubrok foundation.
In-person interviews are scheduled to take place on October 8, 2025. Applicants will receive an email by the beginning of October at the latest informing them whether they have been invited to an interview (in person). The interviews will take place on the premises of FAHRBEREITSCHAFT in Berlin-Lichtenberg. A jury will decide on the award of the HAR Artist Residency.
