Felix Gutschi

Felix Gutschi is one of the most versatile Austrian musicians in the field of early and contemporary music. As a recorder player, music theorist, educator, and creator of artistic concepts and productions, he convinces with technical precision on the instrument, musical expressiveness, curiosity, strong communication skills, and a broad artistic perspective.

His training as a recorder player includes studies with Dorothee Oberlinger, Tiago Simas Freire, Walter van Hauwe, Pierre Hamon, Antonio Politano, Andrea Guttmann, and Matthijs Lunenburg in Salzburg, Lyon, and Brescia. In addition, he is completing a Master’s degree in Music Theory at the Mozarteum Salzburg with Christian Ofenbauer, focusing on New Music.

Felix Gutschi founded the ensemble Chez Fría, which innovatively fuses different musical styles and appears at numerous festivals across Europe. He also founded the ensemble Astrum, which develops historically informed yet progressive concert formats through original arrangements, programmes, and concepts. As a soloist he has performed, among others, with the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra and appeared at venues such as the Wiener Konzerthaus and the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik. As an orchestral musician he has played with the BR-Symphonieorchester, the Münchener Kammerorchester, Ensemble La Divina Armonia, and the Jeune Orchestre Baroque Européen. Gutschi is a prizewinner of several national and international competitions.
