About
Tradwives, Looksmaxxing, AI Slop, Manosphere: Our feeds are full of trends that are either overwhelming or infuriating. In this workshop, we’ll work together to confront our own fears and distressing (online) phenomena with humor and absurdity. After a group discussion on theoretical and artistic approaches, everyone will work on their own projects. As a framework, we suggest that you create an object that embodies one of these fears and transforms it in your own unique way. Whether you build a small box, develop a game, work with clowning, or construct a cyberdeck is entirely up to you. We see the cyberdeck, a DIY mini-computer, as one of many ways to reclaim agency in an increasingly techno-fascist world: through technical understanding, playfulness, participation, and decentralization. A teacher will be on hand to assist you with the technical implementation. The result will be a shared toolbox and a small exhibition for anyone who wants to tackle serious topics in a playful yet earnest way.
