You can find information on registration here.

Creation and validation of the physical CampusCard

  • Students are issued a one-time QR-code, which can be used to print a personalised student ID at one of the three terminals. This process takes about 1 minute (Campusmanagementportal my.udk: my studies - requested reports / reports).
The QR code displayed as a PDF can be scanned either via a smartphone or tablet at the machines. If you do not wish to use such a device, you can also print out this letter.
After using the QR-code it is possible to print a card with or without a passport photo. Photos are taken by the terminal. Cards without a passport photo are not valid without another official document which contains a photo.
After receiving the card, it has to be validated at one of the four validation terminals. These print the validity on the card. This has to be done once every semester.

  • The Validation can be printed 8-10 working days after the semester fee has been paid. Please note the information regarding re-registration, particularly regarding re-registration restrictions. In the campusmanagementportal my.udk, you can check whether you have already been confirmed so that the update can be made. You do not need a new QR code or a new card. Your current card will be reprinted at the machine.

  • All terminals are designed according to ISO 18040 and therefore usable by students with disabilities. The terminals are wheelchair-accessible and have a voice output in German and English.

  • No, for data protection reasons, only terminals from your own university can be used with the QR code and the card.

  • Damages to the card can be avoided through normal handling. To ensure that your card lasts your studies the following guidelines are recommended:

    • Protect the card against smudges and scratches, e.g. in a protective case
    • Do not bend the card
    • Protect the card from extreme temperature changes and direct sunlight
    • Keep away from magnetic fields

  • How does the mensa card app on the card work?

The CampusCard includes a full mensa card of the Studierendenwerk Berlin. This function can be used for any transaction which is supported by the mensa card. The anonymity of the personal information is protected by organisational and technological steps: the university has no access to the content of the app, while the Studierendenwerk Berlin has only the mensacard number and no personal data of the student.

Do I have to use the mensacard app on the CampusCard?

No, it is still possible to use a separate mensacard of the Studierendenwerk Berlin

How do I get my credit on the Mensa card paid out again?

If you want to have your credit balance paid out, you have to go to a cashier's office of the Berliner Studierendenwerk. You can find these in all refectories. There the credit on your card can be paid out.

Please try to update the card again. If the imprint is still not legible, you will have to apply for a new card.
In this case, please contact the person at the admissions ofice (IPA) who is responsible for you.

A charge of the administrative fee for re-issue is possible.

What do I do if my card is damaged?

In this case, please request a new card because a bent or broken card could potentially damage the terminals.

In this case, we may have to pass on the repair costs to you.

Data privacy

Is my personal data stored electronically on the card?

The card contains no personal data on the chip. The chip contains only an anonymous but unique identifier of the card. Use of the mensacard function is also anonymous.

What data is stored in the system?

The CampusCard system is the student card system of UdK Berlin and therefore belongs to the sovereign tasks of the university according to the opening clause DSGVO Art. 6 para. 1.

In addition to the personal data required from the campus management system for the production of the card, technical data of the card and logs on the creation and updating of the card are stored in the system. Apart from the student number, the personal data is deleted after the card has been printed. The photos taken by the machines are not stored in the machines or in the system.

The technical data of the card and corresponding logs of the card are deleted 1 year after the card is blocked.

Are the cards safe?

The CampusCard are Mifare DESfire EV1 cards with AES encryption. Unauthorised persons cannot read them because of the AES encryption.
The cards do not contain any personal data.

How does the QR code work?

The QR-code is anonymous and contains a random, unique number sequence. No personal data is encoded in the QR-code. The QR-code is only usable once, and becomes invalid after the card has be issued. The code has to be printed or displayed on a smartphone/tablet so that the terminal can read it.
