On behalf of the Stadthausbauverein and in collaboration with the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and Unternehmensgruppe Krebs, a building concept and design are being developed for a site in Hamburg’s HafenCity. The housing is designed to be largely barrier-free and, meeting the City of Hamburg’s requirements for social housing. Various design and organizational approaches to constellation-based living are implemented and tested as prototypes. Artificial intelligence is applied throughout all planning and construction phases, as well as during the building’s operational use. Data generated in these processes are collected, analyzed, and used to optimize building performance. In particular, the organization and structuring of space according to living constellations is optimized with AI, aiming to combine efficiency, comfort, flexibility, and sustainability.
