Best Practice Green Screen & Color Grading

Anne Braun

This compact hands-on seminar provides an introduction to digital color correction and color grading in film and video. In addition, the practical application of green-screen compositing techniques will be introduced.
Participants will gain an insight into essential approaches to color grading and learn the basic functions of the grading software DaVinci Resolve. As a practical example, a complete green-screen workflow will be explored, from setting up a studio environment and recording footage to chroma keying using software.
Conceptual and technical questions raised by participants will be addressed throughout the practical exercises. Participants are explicitly encouraged to bring their own video and photographic material, such as footage from ongoing projects or backgrounds to be used with the green screen.

The seminar will cover

  • Artistic and technical aspects of digital color correction and color grading
  • Image signals, processing, and workflow
  • Practical work with Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve
  • Green screen: setup, recording, and keying
