The Jazz-Institute Berlin (JIB) emerged from cooperation between the College of Music “Hanns Eisler” Berlin and Berlin University of the Arts. A new, pioneering institute was created from the recognized jazz departments at each institution, where the Bachelor programme Jazz and the Master's programmes Jazz-Arrangement/-Composition and the European Jazz Master (EUJAM) are offered.
The EUJAM is realized in cooperation with the European universities in Amsterdam/Netherlands: “Jazz Department, Conservatorium van Amsterdam (Amsterdam School of the Arts/CvA)”, Copenhagen/Denmark: “Rhythmic Music Conservatory (RMC)”, Paris/France: “Département Jazz, Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP)” and Trondheim/Norway: “Department of Music, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)”.
The Jazz Institute features guest bookings by well-known artists and practical experience in a music scene currently going through a process of change.
