An Inaugural Lecture in a Double

Prof. Franziska Morlok and Prof. Barbara Kotte invite you to the Medienhaus on 9.11.22 at 5 p.m.

The new colleagues of the Faculty of Design, Visual Communication programme, Prof. Franziska Morlok and Prof. Barbara Kotte jointly invite you to their inaugural lecture on 9.11.2022 at 5 pm in the Galerie im Medienhaus (Grunewaldstraße 2-5).

Dean Prof. Dr. Christian Blümelhuber will welcome them. In a short and entertaining format of 15 minutes each, students, colleagues and guests will have the opportunity to get to know the two new professors in the areas of "Foundations and Processes of Design" and the Campaigns class better. Drinks and snacks will be served afterwards.

Franziska Morlok is a designer, author, professor and founding partner of the design studio Rimini Berlin. She designs for and with clients from the cultural and scientific sectors, institutions, artists, publishers and museums. Her work has received numerous awards, including from the Type Directors Club New York and the Stiftung Buchkunst. Franziska Morlok studied visual communication at the UdK Berlin and the HbK Saar. From 2007-2016, she was an artistic assistant at the Berlin University of the Arts and held teaching positions at various universities. She then taught for six years as a professor for "Editorial Design" at the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences. Since 2022, Franziska Morlok has been a professor for "Fundamentals and Processes of Design" at the Berlin University of the Arts.

Barbara Kotte studied Visual Communication at the FH Düsseldorf, now Hochschule Düsseldorf, Peter Behrens School of Arts, as well as German and Media Studies at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. She did not complete the latter because the working world was too tempting. She worked in creation for various advertising agencies in Düsseldorf and then from the late 1990s in Berlin: Grey, Rempen & Partner, Scholz & Friends, to name but a few. In 2002, together with two partners, she founded the collective Scrollan, in which she is still active today. In parallel, she taught at the FH Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts and the HfG Offenbach, followed by 17 years as Professor of Advertising Design at the Faculty of Design at the HAWK University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hildesheim. Since 2022, she has been a professor in the Visual Communication degree programme and heads the Campaigns class. She is a member of ADC Germany and ADC Europe. Her work has received numerous awards and been exhibited internationally.
