Music from Kreisau. For Europe. Viviane Hagner and the Krzyzowa Music Festival – crescendo

Geert Maciejewski

Ensembles of the Krzyzowa Music Festival and the renowned violinist and artistic director of the festival Viviane Hagner, former student and junior professor at the UdK Berlin present chamber music from various centuries.

The place Kreisau/Krzyżowa stands like no other for the desire for a neighborly united, peaceful Europe, for exchange and culture. "The strength of Europe is in the strength of its cultures." with these words from the papers of the Kreisau Circle, the founders of the Krzyzowa Music Festival make their mission quite clear: in times when a peaceful Europe seems a long way off, they focus on an important part of that strength - music and culture. With the highest musical excellence, musicians of different generations and cultures live this strength of Europe again and again and testify to the unifying European idea in their engagement with music and its cultural heritage.

In this concert, the renowned violinist and artistic director of the festival Viviane Hagner, former student and junior professor at the UdK Berlin, together with Matthias von Hülsen, overall director, will introduce the Krzyzowa Music Festival and provide insights into the cross-generational and cross-cultural work of the initiators. They will present chamber music from various centuries with an ensemble of the Krzyzowa Music Festival composed of award-winning musicians. The centerpiece of the program is Schubert's String Quintet, which was composed shortly before Schubert's death and reflects the musical expression of his ever-growing world-weariness.

Donations from the concert will benefit the crescendo Festival and the Krzyzowa Music Festival in equal parts.
