„Partite diverse con Heinz Holliger“ – Heinz Holliger & Jan Michiels – crescendo

Priska Ketterer

With Heinz Holliger, crescendo presents one of the most extraordinary personalities in the history of music in recent decades: as a composer, oboist and conductor, his name is known worldwide, composers such as Ligeti, Stockhausen and Berio wrote works especially for him. Pianist Jan Michiels, who can be experienced together with Holliger on this evening, sums up his enthusiasm about this collaboration as follows:

"When I met Heinz Holliger about ten years ago, he was already a living legend - my generation grew up with his numerous recordings from Bach to Zimmermann. While working together on his monumental Partita, I also became acquainted with the composer and, shortly thereafter, the conductor in works by his soulmate Schumann. The versatility of his musical output is astounding, as is the depth of his compositions. He is a shining example of what a 21st century musician can mean in our society - so much more than any machine...".
