Prof. Dr. Martin Supper

Prof. Dr. Martin Supper (*1947) teaches Electroacoustic Music and Sonic Arts at the UdK music department and the postgraduate studies Sound Studies and Sonic Arts. He received training as radio and television technician and studied Theoretical Computer Science, Linguistics and Systematic Musicology at the Thechnical University of Berlin. Supper was a DAAD stipend recipient for two years (1980-82) at the Instituut voor Sonologie, Rijksuniversiteit Utrecht, studying computer music and electroacoustic music under Gottfried Michael Koenig there. He earned a Post-graduate degree in Computer Science, and a PhD in Musicology under Helga de la Motte- Haber and Dieter Schnebel.
From 1985 to 2017, Supper headed the UNI.K | Studio for Sonic Arts and Sound Research and from 2009 to 2015 was Director of the postgraduate studies Sound Studies, (now Sound Studies and Sonic Arts) both at Berlin Universty of the Arts. Since 2013 he has been a regular guest professor for Sonic Arts at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.
He has published in science and compositions since 1981.
