Since 2022, Dr. Michaela Conen has been head of the Strategic Marketing staff unit at the UdK Berlin.
She is responsible for developing and implementing strategic marketing in close coordination with the university president. It includes strategic marketing management and the responsibility for its goal achievement and developing an ongoing marketing strategy across all channels and its control. In addition, she is responsible for the support and further development of corporate branding and design. She also develops campaigns and implements collaborations.
She is a cultural and media manager, earned her Ph.D. in strategic management in museums at the KMM Institute of the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre, and has many years of experience in cultural and media management.
From 2016 to 2022, Dr. Conen headed the Marketing and University Events staff unit at UdK Berlin. There she further developed the University event formats and implemented new marketing tools as well as campaign and cooperation formats. The area of the University events staff unit has been transferred to a separate staff unit as of 2022 and renamed for Interfaculty events.
She is part of the advisory board of the initiative "Berlin against Anti-Semitism," which the Berlin Partner Network launched at the beginning of 2021. The initiative implements both sustainable, in-house measures and high-profile campaigns to raise awareness of the issue of anti-Semitism among workforces, organizations and society. The result should be increased mindfulness of discrimination that removes the breeding ground for anti-Semitism.
Previously, she worked at the Federal Agency for Civic Education (Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung/bpb) in the events department of Berlin's capital city coordination office. There she implemented cultural and political event formats as well as their marketing and communication strategy, e.g., at the festival "Politik im Freien Theater."
As head of the Corporate Performance Management staff unit at the Jewish Museum Berlin, she advised the management on strategic management issues, including organizational development, change management, and marketing.
She is also a part-time freelance consultant specializing in cultural consulting. In addition, she creates forward-looking and innovative ideas for the cultural sector with her network.
