ADD(+)POWER
Presented as a theory and a practice, Anthony R. Green’s latest work ADD(+)POWER (conceived by Green; curated by Green and Thomas Barth) investigates the radical joy in queer reclamations of power. With music, movement, improvisation, and more, this project invites audience members into an interactive journey by invoking their own collective power.
Paired with Green’s world premiere are two premieres by composer Nathan Hall created for Green, that draw from the poetry of Essex Hemphill and Countee Cullen, as well as multimedia artist & composer Sea Novaa’s Yours. Green will also give the New York premiere performance of his own His Mind & What He Heard in Central Park in the Late 90’s, composed in 2018.
Audiences are invited to come as they are to this interactive queer experience: assless chaps, pajamas, carnival masks, costumes - all are welcome to participate in this interactive performance experience in any way comfortable and respectful. Featuring Anthony R. Green and Thomas Barth presenting world premieres with the priceless aid of an incendiary team of collaborators spanning poets, visual artists, multi-media artists, and composers, ADD(+)POWER is Green’s queerest and most interactive project to date.
