The Graduate School as part of the Berlin Centre for Advanced Studies in Arts and Scienes (BAS) at Berlin University of the Arts is a postgradual, interdisciplinary and international programme that aims at improving the dialog between the arts, sciences and humanities.
The fellowship programme is for highly qualified graduates of all artistic and scientific majors, who regard the exchange with other disciplines as the basis of their work. The school supports projects which are rooted in one discipline but unfold their specific qualities through the dialogue with others.
The fellows have the opportunity to focus and work on the research and realisation of an art or design project for two years. Within the context of a mandatory study programme as well as different formats of public presentation (e.g. “Salon für Ästhetische Experimente”), the Graduate School provides space for transdisciplinary exchange and networking.
Furthermore, the Graduate School offers the possibility to teach and to take part in projects concerning cooperations between the arts and sciences at the Berlin University of the Arts. The fellows may benefit from individual supervision by professors from the faculties of Fine Arts, Design, Music and Performing Arts.
Since 2011, the Graduate School has been funded by the Einstein Foundation Berlin.
