Words Don’t Come Easy

With the fellows of the Graduate School Yalda Afsah and Didem Pekün, and guest Ginan Seidl. Moderated by Övül Ö. Durmusoglu.

Words Don’t Come Easy is a conversational screening with the two previous film works by Yalda Afsah (in collaboration with Ginan Seidl) and Didem Pekün,
who have been deeply engaged with different interpretations of documentary filmmaking as an artistic form.
Yalda Afsah and Ginan Seidl's BOY (2015) and Didem Pekün’s Tülay German: Years of Fire and Cinders (2010)
look at female progressive bodies that subvert their environments with the way they live and engage with themselves, making their own histories.
In this conversation, we will also discuss how Afsah, Seidl and Pekün look at these films from their current position of filmmaking,
how these films shaped where they stand right now and what they would do differently today.

The series of events is a cooperation between the Haus der Kulturen der Welt and the Graduate School at the Berlin Centre for Advanced Studies in Arts and Sciences (BAS) of UdK Berlin. The exhibitions at HKW are free of charge on Mondays and open until 7pm.
