Fellows of the Artists-in-Berlin Program and the Graduate School in exchange - Opening event of the new cooperation

Shooting Stars and Angry Gods

with Som Supaparinya and Amy Lien & Enzo Camacho

moderated by Merv Espina

Shooting Stars and Angry Gods, which comprises an exchange of works and ideas between Som Supaparinya and Amy Lien and Enzo Camacho, is the first gathering for future dialogue that will take place between DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program and UdK’s Graduate School, two organizations which host international artistic research in a transdisciplinary realm in Berlin.

The conversation between Supaparinya and Lien & Camacho will trace the paths these artists take to navigate conflicting histories and histories of conflict, with emphasis on the feudal oppressions imposed by colonial and corporate imperialism within Southeast Asian geography. It will attempt to map out reciprocities, intersections and dissonances in the ways these artists handle violence and memory, representation and its limits, and opacity as an artistic and political strategy, from earlier works till today.

The conversation is part of the interdisciplinary event series Uncommon Grounds, taking place on twelve evenings at the daadgalerie.
